Reviews
This troubleshooting manual for Windows XP is a great reference for anyone who is using XP. Although it hasn't been updated to the latest SP version it is still very useful when one needs help to resolve many problems associated with XP.. An additional use I find for it, is purchasing extra copies and giving them to friends and family who use XP and have the occassional failures I experience with it. It's not the most thorough tool you will ever own, but it is a very good reference when you don't know what else to try.
Reviews
This book is great for beginning and intermediate users in my opinion when it comes to the basics of troubleshooting windows xp. If your looking for more indepth information i would recommend microsoft windows xp inside and out.
Reviews
Yes I purchased this book (kick me) should have put the money in a blender and turned the switch. This book at best covers only the very basic problems one might encounter, and fix with windows help files. If you have anything but an extremely minor problem, stay away from this one.

Punishment, Compensation, and Law: A Theory of Enforceability (Cambridge Studies in Philosophy and Law)

Punishment, Compensation, and Law: A Theory of Enforceability (Cambridge Studies in Philosophy and Law)
Mark R. Reiff | 2005-07-11 00:00:00 | Cambridge University Press | 272 | Jurisprudence
Focusing on the enforceability of legal rights, but also addressing the enforceability of moral rights and social conventions, Mark Reiff explains how we use punishment and compensation to make restraints operative in the world. Describing the various means by which restraints may be enforced, he explains how the sufficiency of enforcement can be measured. He also develops a new, unified theory of deterrence, retribution, and compensation that shows how various aspects of enforceability relate to one another. Reiff then applies his theory of enforceability to illuminate a variety of real-world problem situations.

Workplace Temporalities, Volume 17 (Research in the Sociology of Work)

Workplace Temporalities, Volume 17 (Research in the Sociology of Work)
Beth A Rubin | 2007-08-01 00:00:00 | JAI Press | 562 | Social Sciences
The global, 24/7 economy and the organizational changes it has generated have enormous implications for the organization, experience and use of time in (and out of) the workplace. In addition to eroding the boundary between home and work, creating time pressures both within and outside of the workplace, the need for businesses to compete in a 24/7 global economy has re-problematized time in the workplace. Drawing on sociology, labor economics, organizational behavior and social history, the papers in this volume examine either empirically or theoretically, a variety of aspects of time in the workplace. Contributors to this volume examine issues surrounding the distribution of and struggle over work hours and how these vary across a number of factors including race, class, occupation and other structural components of work. They examine temporal structures within organizations including inequities in flexible scheduling, entrainment and work teams, polychronicity, and how changing temporal structures affect professionalism and expertise. They also consider the way in which changing uses and organization of work time, in the context of economic instability and globalization, affect the difficulties of reconciling work and family. At the more micro-level, the papers consider individuals' perceptions and constructions and intersubjective constructions of time. To varying degrees, the authors speak to the policy implications or strategies for managing new times. Taken as a whole, these papers shed light on the way in which globalization and the emergence of a 24/7 economy have altered the ways, times, and meanings of time at work.

Research in the Sociology of Work is now available online at ScienceDirect - full-text online of volumes 10 onwards.

Now, Mark Matthews and team explain everything you need to build database applications with MySQL and Java.

Doctor Strange and Doctor Doom: Triumph and Torment

Doctor Strange and Doctor Doom: Triumph and Torment
Roger Stern | 1900-01-01 00:00:00 | Marvel Enterprises | 80 | Marvel
Reviews
Early graphic novel, only so so, but an obviously intriguing team-up. Doctor Doom of course has mystical bits lurking in his origin and background, and this is a meeting of two strong and idiosyncratic egos.

Reviews
The is a must have for any fan of Doom. Roger Stern's writing is simply brilliant, and Mignola's artwork is magnificant. The good Doctor is portrayed as ruthless and cunning, but with a shockingly noble goal. Dr. Strange plays second fiddle to Doom, yet his involvement is instrumental to the plot. The story is this: Doom competes in the contest of the Vishanti to receive a boon from the Sorceror Supreme. His wish? Only to free his mother's soul from the clutches of Mephisto, a fight that involves a journey to his realm which could cost them both their lives.

I can't say enough about this story. It is one of the best pieces of comic literature I have ever encountered and I have read it countless times. Buy it, you won't be disappointed!
Reviews
WITHOUT TAKING ANTHING AWAY FROM THE ORIGINAL ORIGINS, TRIUMPH AND TORMENT ADDS TO BOTH DOCTORS' PAST HISTORY, WHILST WEAVING AN INTRICATE STORY THAT INVOLVES BOTH MEN'S PASTS AND POWERS. IF YOU ARE A DOCTOR DOOM FAN, YOU MUST HAVE THIS BOOK! ITS DRAWN BETTER THAN THE "VILLANY" TPB, AND HAS BETTER WRITING.
Reviews
Very cool story, Doom and Strange journey to HELL and square off against Mephisto. The coolest parts though are the re-tellings of both origins...nothing is changed, but a LOT is added to both tales....nice detail throughout. And the art....WOW. This is a nice looking book, and one of the best characterizations of Victor VonDoom.
